Description

The columns with their beautiful color play in marble come from a former temple in Alexandria. They can be dated to around 1800's - possible that they had been origine roman empire in second use.
At the ends of columns iron cuffs were attached, and had copper strips for decoration (some rests are left). The connection to the base was done with lead solder, partly with help of wood wedges.
The columns have different diameters and are mounted on two different base forms. The total height for all columns is 3 meters.

Type 1 - narrow columns with high base and high capital:

  •     Diameter column: approximately 220 mm
  •     Height Base / Capital: approximately 385 mm


Type 2 - central column with a high base and high capital:

  •     number of columns: 1
  •     Diameter column: approximately 245 mm
  •     Height Base / Capital: 400 mm



Type 3 - middle column with a flat base and a flat section:

    number of columns: 3
    Diameter Column: ca. 260-280 mm
    Height Base / Capital: 250-300 mm



Type 4 - large columns with a flat base and a flat section:

  • number of columns: 4
  • Diameter Column: ca. 300-310 mm
  • Height Base / Capital: 250-300 mm
