Description

With tradition to success.
A unique story for unique products.

She was exceptional, the original "convent woman" Maria Clementine Martin: nun, nurse and businesswoman in one. After its beginnings in the pharmacy of the convent of St. Anna, when the ecclesiastical property was dispossessed in the Napoleonic Age, it had to defend itself by itself with only 28 years.

On her journey through the German principalities, she worked mainly as a nurse - and was not only able to use her tried and tested Melissa Spirit, but to develop it steadily. Later she began to sell him too. The recognition for their tireless efforts was not long in coming. For her dedication as a nurse during the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, King Friedrich Wilhelm III thanked her with an annual incarnation.

Now Maria Clementine Martin could fulfill the wish to help as many people as possible. In 1826, she founded the manufacturing company "Maria Clementine Martin Klosterfrau" near the Cologne Cathedral. The foundation stone of our company was laid.

Klosterfrau Melissengeist sold himself so well from the beginning that he had already imitated imitators. In order to be able to cope with the often bad copies, the monstrous woman of the monastery could make a genial coup: she asked the king to print his coat of arms on the labels. The monastery's wife, Melissengeist, was thus protected as the first brand in Germany by the King's seal. The Prussian coat of arms is still depicted on every bottle of Klosterfrau Melissengeist.
